Web 2.0 Technologies and their Effects on Collaboration

From the Paper:

"Historically the Internet has been a traditional publish-and-subscribe type of communication model, where people, groups, companies and large organizations posted content and applications for use by others. The exponential growth of the more collaborative Web, based on the technologies comprising Web 2.0, are having a significant effect on the collaborative skills of those using these new ways of working together. Each of these technologies require those using them to sharpen and refine their writing skills as well, and it is the contention of this paper that Web 2.0 technologies actually reinforce and strengthen collaborative skill sets and writing skills. There is an abundance of research on the emerging effects of using social networking to improve collaborative workgroup and writing skills (Hedgebeth, 2007)."
