"The Enlightenment represents an important change of thought in the development of humanity. It represents a profound philosophical movement which had deep consequences in all the areas of life, from the political to the social and economic one. Its fundamental ideas acknowledged the importance of personal freedom, democracy and reason. These became the core values of society and its further organization was based on them. The creation of the US Constitution was highly influenced by the Enlightenment ideas. There are three philosophers the ideas of whom were particularly powerful and influent upon the drawing of the constitutional amendments. They are Thomas Hobbes, John Locke and Montesquieu."
