The paper offers a review of ten concerts around Los Angeles. The paper describes the main musicians/vocalists, the venue, the audience and the format of the performance. The writer includes his personal perspective on these ten concerts.
From the Paper:"The format of the performance was collective-composite. It was actually the unique layering of genres which made the performance a success. The synthesis of classical and modern elements makes an extraordinary experience for the viewer.
"Bands from three area middle schools opened the performance. Then, we witnessed orchestral music featuring Bach and Hoffmeister. At the end of the Hoffmeister act, the band "plugged-in" their electronic instruments to give us their rendition of Santana, Jimi Hendrix, and The Beatles. Having heard these classics many times myself, I was most impressed by the collaboration of instruments in Purple Haze. The performance of Let It Be, with a complete 125 piece orchestra was powerful enough to get a standing ovation from the audience. Intermittent scenes of Shakespeare served to break up the various musical genres in the performance. These failed to elicit the same kind of enthusiasm from the audience, and ostensibly served to allow the audience to catch their breath."
