"Supply chain management is a useful tool and strategy to pursue for any company, regardless of industry. The purpose of supply chain management is to ensure that the needs of the customer are fulfilled by the business by their efficiently and in a cost-effective way gathering and processing the necessary materials through which to create their product. This may be accomplished by establishing inventory tracking systems or processes, such as Just In Time inventory management on the complex end to simply tracking inventory through a written ledger to ensure nothing runs out. In the case of the manufacturing industry, there are a few particular technologies which support methods of planning, MRP and ERP, which are highly useful towards this end in that particular industry."
