The paper discusses how performance appraisals are beneficial to employees as well as supervisors; employees and supervisors gain a clear understanding of each others' role in the workplace, so working together to achieve the uniform goal will be effortless. The paper focuses on the United States Air Force's performance appraisal called an Enlisted Performance Report. The paper explains its ratings and promotion recommendations as well as the advantages and disadvantages of this report. The paper contends that accurately appraising employees is beneficial to the entire workplace.

From the Paper:

"The United States Air Force uses a performance appraisal called an Enlisted Performance Report. The Enlisted Performance Report is vital to Air Force personnel because the report documents performance whether good or bad, holds employees accountable, and aids in the decision process for awards, promotions, commissioning, assignments, and nominations for vacant positions (Air Force Fact Sheet, 2009). Active Duty Guard Reservists receive enlisted performance reports every year and all other reservists receive reports biennially. The appraisal states the employee's current grade, duty title, key duties, tasks, and responsibilities, and the time from which the employee is being evaluated. The evaluation of performance section of the enlisted performance report rates the employee on seven main aspects of the job. Each aspect has a different rating scale."
