From the Paper:

"Physical inactivity has become a significant issue, especially with the concern regarding the alarming prevalence of obesity and related diseases such as cardiovascular disease, Type 2 diabetes mellitus, colon cancer and hypertension in not only developed countries but also worldwide (U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, 2000). All these diseases are linked with physical inactivity depending on the disease. For example, obesity, cardiovascular disease and Type 2 diabetes mellitus are linked to physical inactivity in that calorie expenditure does not exceed caloric intake."
