This paper describes the three major types of evidence: demonstrative, documentary and testimonial, and gives examples of each. It then presents three cases where the evidence was controversial, and explains why it was controversial and whether or not it should have been admitted.

"The three types of evidence are demonstrative, documentary and testimonial. Demonstrative evidence demonstrates the testimony given by a witness and includes such things as maps, diagrams of the crime scene, etc. The witness authenticates the evidence and identifies its salient features, testifying to its accuracy in terms of what they saw or heard when the crime occurred. They may point out on a diagram where people involved at the crime scene were standing or sitting at the time of the crime. Documentary evidence may be a contract..."
