From the Paper:

"The modern day era is more focused on intellectual capital than ever. The employees are no longer perceived as the force operating the machines, but they are the ones who generate solutions and bring the economic agent closer to its goals. In this context, the organizational leaders develop and implement a wide array of strategies to stimulate the employees and to best capitalize on their knowledge. One specific effort in this sense is represented by the adoption of the principles and strategies of knowledge management. The concept refers to an organizational culture focused on the identification of knowledge, its analysis and its use to support the company in reaching its objectives.
"Knowledge management has been present within the western hemisphere for years now and it has gradually metamorphosed from an option of competitive advantage into a necessity for surviving and remaining competitive within the more and more dynamic market place.
"The adoption of knowledge management in Iran has been slower, with most organizations having never heard of it. "Knowledge management in Iranian institutions is almost a new subject. Unfortunately this concept in Iranian institutions has grown slowly and as a result, it has reached to the point where a significant number of institutions have never used it and it caused their inefficiency and ineffectiveness" (Abdolshah and Abdolshah, 2011). The reason as to why knowledge management is scarce in the Iranian institutions is pegged to the existence of numerous barriers."
