Description:

This paper presents the premise that through the introduction of the Internet within the classroom, students will be provided with a challenge and they will show a more controlled and acceptable behavior within the class environment. The paper contends that these students will be given the opportunity to enhance their technological skills and learn in a manner that best suits them at their convenience and thus, branch their deviance in a more productive manner. The paper addresses the barriers to Internet use and explains how some are related to the initial setup for Internet access, while others are related to the actual use of the Internet.

From the Paper:

"The term "Internet" abounds in today's vocabulary. Evidence of the proliferation of the Internet can be seen all around us. Internet addresses are on commercials, printed advertisements, and business cards. We constantly hear the phrase "check out our home page." So, what is the Internet and how can it help today's teacher? (Kantor, A. 1995).
"The Web allows users to see images and text and to hear sounds merely with the point and click of a mouse button. In reality, much of the information available through the Web is of the same type that existed on the Internet. The Web began when researchers joined together to write a program that made accessing the data easier than before; hence, they wrote an application package that made viewing easier. This viewer is called a "browser," and many company's market browsers for the World Wide Web. Netscape and Mosaic are two well-known browsers. Whichever browser you use, the Web is a hit with teachers and students alike."
