From the Paper:

"Mention the technology of genetically modified (GM) foods or genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and many in the public will invoke a look of distaste. While the general population is not completely educated about GM foods, there are pros and cons to the consumption and use. Additionally, the technology is not as new as many believe. For example, it has been centuries since the practice of farm animal selective breeding has been happening. For hundreds of years, livestock owners have bred the finest male specimen with the finest females to yield the best results. This type of breeding has been done with domestic canine, feline, and flowers also."
