This paper examines numerous issues associated with providing childcare in American public school, particularly those related to teenage sexuality. According to the paper, the purpose of this discussion is to examine the impact of providing childcare centers in public schools on condom use amongst students. Various arguments in favor and against childcare in public schools are presented. Those in favor of childcare state that it encourages teen parents to complete their education. Those opposed are cited as believing that it further encourages irresponsible sexual behavior. Additionally, the paper discusses condom use among sexually active teenagers and its link to providing childcare in schools. It also addresses different opinions on teaching sex education in public schools and sexually transmitted diseases. The paper concludes by stating that research seems to indicate that such programs can be quite beneficial and do not discourage students as it pertains to the use of condoms.

"At the current time there are very few public schools that offer childcare to students. However, according to an article entitled "School's pregnancy spike stirs day care debate" there has been an increase in the number of schools that are including childcare facilities on their campuses. This is particularly true in urban areas. The article also discusses the pregnancy pact that took place at a Gloucester, Massachusetts high school. The article reveals that the school is one of 20 in the state of Massachusetts that has such a facility. The principal of the school has mixed feelings concerning whether or not the presence of the daycare facility on campus encouraged students to participate in this pact."The article also explains that the school district attempts to strike a balance between offering teenage parents daycare and making certain that other teenagers do not follow the same path. The article reports that as a requirement for allowing students to utilize the daycare, the teenage parents have to speak with their peers to allow them to hear first hand the difficulties that can arise when attempting to raise children while still in school ("School's pregnancy spike stirs day care debate").
