From the Paper:"Kathleen grew up in Winona, Minnesota. Her father owned a local newspaper and her mother was a teacher at the local school. She has two brothers and two sisters. Kathleen is the middle child as both brothers are older and both sisters are younger. The youngest sibling, Hannah, is much younger than the other children. Hannah is approximately fifteen years younger than Kathleen.
"Kathleen's family was a rather prominent one in Winona. Her father was a very respected business owner and writer. Education was extremely important to her parents. Kathleen's mother went to university but her father was a self-made man who went to work full-time when he was about fifteen years old. He started out cleaning the newspaper's building and worked up to work the press machines and eventually be a reporter. When the newspaper was up for sale, her father had been working there some 10 years and decided to buy it. He got help from his wife's parents who were well-to-do.
"Kathleen married when she was 21 - after university. She studied foreign relations in Minneapolis at a prestigious school. Upon graduation she married her high-school sweetheart. He went to Vietnam a short while after they were married. When he returned, they had two children - first Katherine and then Rebecca. Katherine is three years older than Rebecca. The kids were born in 1972 and 1975, respectively."
