This paper explains that the purpose of this research is to examine methods for resolving conflicts between middle-age school children in a local Florida school environment with a sample of 6th graders between the ages of 11 and 12 years of age. Conflict resolution programs are important, the author stresses, because a safe and orderly school environment is essential to promoting high standards for learning and for ensuring that all children have the opportunity to develop to their fullest potential. The paper includes the research questions and the method for conducting this research.

From the Paper:

"Using a formative assessment in the study will help to identify interventions that work and will allow the teacher to be flexible in planned lessons and draw attention to students, so that they are willing to participate in activities with the self-assurance that resolving conflicts is a decision-making skill that is necessary to eliminate the problem. In retrospect, the student will learn how to handle conflicts using conflict resolution strategies. The research will also use model-eliciting activities because they are based on real-life situations where students, working in small groups, present a social science model or a communication model as a solution to a client's need."
