Shotokan Karate, EI and Leadership Roles Research Paper by Top Papers

The paper relates that for the purpose of this study, emotional intelligence is defined by the Goleman model, the emotional-social intelligence (ESI) model and the trait EI model. The paper measures leadership competency using a contingency model which focuses on leadership performance in situational contingencies. The paper addresses key questions throughout this research project, including is there a conclusive positive relationship between Karate training, EI and effective leadership, what philosophical maxims and physical training in Karate promotes EI, and, how do these philosophical maxims and physical training in Karate enhance leadership competencies. The paper relates that this project was limited by ensuring that the survey population consisted primarily of students of Karate under the Shotokan School. The paper notes that one of the major issues that the study will have to deal with is regarding the debate on the validity of the theoretical foundations of EI.
