Description:

In order to truly test the concept that housing closer to the city center is more expensive than housing further away from the city center, a regression analysis is necessary. This type of analysis can then explain the relationship between two variables, "Regression is a generic term for all methods attempting to fit a model to observed data in order to quantify the relationship between two groups of variables," (CAMO 1). Thus, using regression analysis, the hypothesis in this current research can be appropriately tested with real mathematical relevance. The actual cost of housing was associated with data on the Y axis, while the distance from the city center was associated with the x axis. By using regression, this current research can then compare the relevance to the real statistical significance of the data to the currently held hypothesis that housing closest to the city center is in fact more expensive than housing found outside the city center. Along with analyzing current data, the regression analysis will also allow this research to make predictions regarding housing further outside the city center than currently represented in the data set used for the regression analysis.
