This paper explains that the Nestle food empire was initiated by Henri Nestle as an attempt to decrease infant mortality by providing a cost effective nutritious infant formula for babies of women who are unable to breast feed. The author points out that Nestle's strategy always has been to stick to the well-known principle of thinking globally but acting locally, such as a Nestle brand product sold world-wide has different flavors for different regions.
