From the Paper:
"Technological growth especially in the field of information and communication systems has facilitated the emergence of numerous social network sites where individuals can trace and connect with their friends. Facebook is one of these social network sites which enable people especially the youngsters to connect and interact with their peers. Popularity in use of this site stem from the fact that it is relatively easy and cheap to use in comparison to other conventional modes of communication. Globally, use of Facebook has rocketed among college going students who do not merely perceive it as a marketing tool but also as a place where they can hang out with their peers. The site enables them to perform a wide range of activities including uploading of photos, sharing videos and music as well as hosting peer groups through which they can organize and schedule events. However, this new social network phenomenon is not without a downside. Increased adoption of Facebook particularly by college students has had grave implications on the individual users (Ellison, Steinfield and Lampe, para 2). Ramifications of Facebook have been diverse and of varied magnitude including privacy concerns and aggravated adverse impacts on the academic performance of the students. Nevertheless, the implications of Facebook adoption are largely dependent on the manner in which individuals students choose to use it."Sample of Sources Used:
