Description:

This paper examines factors that influence personality including the relationship of cognition and personality development, how biological and environmental factors affect the cognitive processes that can shape some aspects of personality and the influence of parents on personality. Next, the author discusses how biological, genetic and environmental factors play a role in the development of an aggressive personality. The paper settles the old "nature versus nurture" debate by emphasizing that the foundation of personality development rests within nature because only nature can create a healthy base in which to be nurtured.

From the Paper:

"Some children might be born with a chromosome abnormality such as Down syndrome or have a mental impairment such as retardation. All of these factors will affect the cognitive development of the individual which ultimately will affect their own unique personality. Children who have even a hearing impairment may be slower to learn language and slower to develop cognitive skills. Children who are ill sometimes have to have massive treatments such as chemotherapy and most likely these children take a lot of medication which can ultimately have an impact on the brains development."
