Description:

This paper discusses how, born in West Virginia and now residing in Mantua, Ohio, KM visits relatives in the Appalachian area, or more specifically, the in the hollows of the mountainous region of West Virginia. It examines how KM's Appalachian culture is widely evident in the way he lives and how he continues to live not far from his roots in Appalachia, in a rural area in Ohio, in a trailer within a park, with no telephone, well water, and fuel oil. He is very comfortable in his surroundings, and along with his wife, has raised two boys to be comfortable with their upbringing as well.

From the Paper:

"KM stated that he has an "anger issue" in that he cannot always control his anger and easily flies into a rage over something simple, depending on his mood. Usually friends help him cope, and he will leave his house and go "hang out with my buds," smoking marijuana and drinking beer. KM stated that eventually, come morning, he realizes he was wrong, and goes home and apologizes to whomever he was mad at.
"KM has not ever had any unusual cravings. As a child he ate a lot of southern types of food such as fried chicken, barbequed chicken, greens, sweet potatoes, and the like. The foods he considers to be traditional, and the foods his wife will present for him on holidays, include cornbread, biscuits and gravy, mashed potatoes and buttered noodles (at the same meal), and so forth. KM states, once they were explained, that he and his family have always eaten a lot of carbohydrates."
