From the Paper:

"Relative to the problem of fierce competition, PepsiCo should put aside its rivalry with the Coca-Cola Company and should focus more on the market demands. In this order of ideas, they should not copy and adapt the strategies implemented by the leader of the beverage industry, but they should constantly conduct market research and identify new trends and demands forwarded by the customers. Foremost, they should invest more in product development and improvement in order to satisfy customers' needs and wants even before they become aware of their existence."
