From the Paper:
''In the contemporary world, body modification has gained popularity as many people seek to modify and alter their personal images to suit their internalized self-perception. In effect, the market share for businesses offering body modification services such as body piercing, tattooing, breast implantation, liposuction and Rhinoplasty among others has greatly expanded. Individuals seeing for these services are motivated by diverse forces ranging from a desire to accomplish their intrinsic needs to achieving an identity through altering their appearance in a certain way. The paper focuses on the motivations that lead people into choosing certain forms of body modifications and how they arrive at these decisions. The paper seeks to establish these trends by assessing opinions and perceptions of three individuals on six pre-identified forms of body modification. Individual characteristics of the chosen participants vary in terms of gender, age and cultural background. The selected participants rank Rhinoplasty, body piercing, lifting, lipoplasty, breast augmentation and tattooing from the highest to the lowest in terms of their preference.''Sample of Sources Used:
