This paper briefly examines how there are a number of different factors that influence behavior and psychological development. The paper also discusses how the modern day mental health professional must have a detailed understanding of these different symptoms and causes. The paper also looks at some of the most common psychological disorders: depression, bi polar disorder, anorexia nervosa, anti-social personality disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, schizophrenia and borderline personality disorder in order to provide the abnormal psychologist with the knowledge as to how to effectively work with patients; who are suffering from these various conditions.

"Antisocial personality disorder is when there is a consistent disregard for the rights or safety of others. This begins in childhood and continues into adulthood. In most circles, those who are suffering from this condition are often refereed to as sociopaths or psychopaths. The most common symptoms of the disease would include: consistent lying / stealing, lack of remorse about hurting others, inability to make friends / maintain relationships and persistent disregard for laws / social norms just to name a few.
