The paper argues that school uniforms should be worn - and that they should be worn from the very start of the grade school experience (kindergarten). The reason for this conclusion is three-fold: school uniforms instill discipline and improve student behavior; uniforms can be quite inexpensive (thereby thwarting the argument that they will place working-class families in a tight or embarrassing position); and the inhibition of personal expression by school uniforms is more than off-set by the evidence of an improved climate at institutions that mandate the aforesaid uniforms.
