This paper argues that pornographic material causes women to feel and be viewed as subordinate to males, causes an increase in sexual violence against women, and is psychologically damaging for children to see and be a participant in. The paper contends that censoring pornographic materials would allow children to surf the web without pornographic images coming up from simple keywords, violence against children in explicit sex rings could be diminished, and rape would decrease along with the degradation of women.

From the Paper:

"For hundreds of years, pornography, in some sort of fashion, has been amidst our world. From the early renaissance paintings depicting plump, nude women to today's Playboy and large range of adult video stores. What was once a beautiful and cultural expression of art has now become one of the leading debates in courts. Pornography has now become something "dirty" and well it should. Pornography now includes demeaning sexual acts between man and woman, woman and woman, and now even involves children. Where does freedom of speech end is what one has to ask. Would it be appropriate to walk into a grocery store and find uncovered pornographic material at the end of every checkout lane? Would it be appropriate for a child to be subjected to seeing such materials by walking into a store or turning on the computer? The answer to these questions is "no." Moreover, many children are used in pornographic material. Pornography needs to be censored in order to keep children safe from viewing and being involved in it. Furthermore, pornography has been a proven link in rape cases, degrades women and causes submissive stereotypes of women. The censorship of pornography is essential in reducing these stereotypes, reducing rape, and protecting children from such explicit material."
