The divide between those who are in favor of it and those who oppose it often revolves around the economic benefits and the morality of the issue. Given the relative economic depression of South Carolina, it may seem surprising to some that the residents of the state wouldn't embrace gambling initiatives that would bring more development and jobs to the area. And yet, the history of gambling in South Carolina has been less than savory for so long that the public cries of immorality carry significant weight in the state.
