Description:
The paper reveals that in the early 1990's, sixty percent of all degress at HBCU were earned by women, and by the mid 1990's, fifty percent of all first-professional degrees were earned by women and by 2000 upwards of fifty percent of all doctoral degrees at HBCU were earned by women ("Degrees conferred by HBCU's", 2008). The paper argues that an apology is due to Black women; it will not cure the ailment, but it will be appropriate. The paper reveals that feelings of remorse for women run deep in black communities in America. The paper describes how Black men came together in the Million Man March and expressed their feeling of regret for the hurt they have caused black women and they committed to doing better from that day forth (Matthews, 2002). The paper questions where education falls in this commitment for betterment.
