In this article, the writer looks at goals for becoming a teacher and provides a personal educational philosophy. The writer maintains that it is a teacher's responsibility to create the right atmosphere and learning environment and to provide a perfect education for each individual student. The writer discusses the purposes and development involved in the teaching profession and also looks at meeting students' needs and the importance of becoming a teacher. "The purposes I want to focus on as a teacher are developing knowledge, developing character, and building relationships. Every day in my classroom I will work toward two particular goals. The first goal will be to help my students further understand what they already know. To help my students further understand, I will review what they have already learned and ask open-ended questions to see what they already know, then try to fill in the blanks. The second goal will be to teach my students something new. I will do this by developing a good curriculum, and by using effective teaching strategies. The second purpose of mine will be to develop my students' character. I will do this by being a role model for my students. I will be honest and respectful to them, and have the expectations that they will act the same to me. Furthermore, I will expect my students to treat their classmates as they would like to be treated themselves. This brings me to my third purpose that is building relationships.
