Women held some of the most powerful and hard working positions in biblical times. In pre-industrial society women worked right beside their husbands and children. Many believe that women's status in the workforce improved dramatically during World War I and World War II. The industrial boom of the late 19th and 20th centuries helped many women to enter the workforce.
