Women have played intricate roles in society in terms of occupations. Although women are the bearers of children, they have expanded their roles in various fields while maintaining child rearing. There is a "socio-cultural understanding of gender and multidisciplinary gender research necessary to move forward towards a more transformative gender approach and integration of gender into research" (Klumpers, 2005, p. 5). In other words, society and culture have moved forward to include and learn from both genders in the field of research and science.
