"The Thresholds Young Adult Program is a day program focused on the needs of teenagers with mental illness. The day program is located at 4219 N. Lincoln, Chicago. The mission of this program is to "engage and empower young adults" in their efforts to become independent adults. Thresholds' "Loren Juhl Young Adult Program" was established in 1974, to assist teenagers with mental illness to transition into the adult world. The goals of this program are two-pronged, as it provides services that assist teenagers with learning the tasks of adult daily living and seeks to guide teenagers along the path of recovering mental health. This program was developed five years after the overall Thresholds school was established, to provide services to students with the specific special needs that accompany mental illness."Cite this Essay:
