From the Paper:"The following section includes information that comes from an interview conducted on September 19, 2013 with Bruce Trimble, director of marketing and public relations at The Bridgeway. When asked the mission of The Bridgeway and its scope of services, he replied "to provide healthcare services that patients recommend to families and friends, physicians prefer for their patients, purchasers select for their clients, employees are proud of, and investors seek for long-term results." Mr. Trimble said The Bridgeway offers services to children, adolescents, and adults who have behavioral, emotional, or addictive problems and provides tools to help those clients reconnect with their families, friends, and employers.
"The Bridgeway has formal linkages with other agencies in the area. The agency is owned by Universal Health Services (UHS) which is the largest behavioral healthcare network in the United States. UHS also owns three other behavioral hospitals in Arkansas and according to Mr. Trimble, The Bridgeway interacts with those hospitals to meet the demands of the community. At The Bridgeway social workers act as therapists, case managers, discharge planners, and liaisons to assist with aftercare planning for patients.
"According to Mr. Trimble, The Bridgeway allocates one-third of the hospital to patients with chronic mental health issues which is represents at-risks citizens of the community. Some of the concerns administrators have noticed for at-risks persons is the lack of transportation to mental health facilities. He stated public transportation does not currently have routes that are convenient to mental health facilities other than the VA, UAMS, and AR State Hospital but those providers are not always the best option for at-risks populations. He went on to say that the at-risk population often deems transportation issues as a barrier to them receiving mental health care. Mr. Trimble stated the clients the agency serves come from all races, ages, genders, and socioeconomic groups."
