This paper examines educational standards throughout the U.S., providing a critical overview of the lack of standardization. Based on the Charles Hill website of education standard, the author reviews reform policies under discussion and studies the role of federal and state governments in implementing reform. He also looks at reasons for the currently poor level of educational achievement. He concludes with a discussion about the advantages of reform, stating his personal opinion that it is an imperative.
From the Paper:"This is not to say there were no standards however, they were scattered hither and yon throughout the nation with very few of them alike in any sort of a cohesive pattern. Through the efforts of Charles Hill there is now setup via the World Wide Web a site for the gathering together these various standards, organizing them as best they can be and categorize them into various groupings for example, Standards by Subject Area."
