The "Big Mac" and French fries, Egg McMuffin, and other McDonald's products are the most popular fast food items to be found anywhere. But the founder of this world-wide chain did not achieve overnight success. From the Paper:"Kroc did not permit his franchisees to open as many stores within the territory as they may have wanted. New stores would have to be approved by the McDonald's Corporation. By holding on to territorial rights, McDonald's really held out a carrot to the franchisees. If they upheld standards of service and food quality, then permission would be given. It was up to the individual franchisees to maintain quality, so that, no matter where in the country someone ordered a McDonald's hamburger, it would have the same quality."
