"The evolution of the field of psychology, which began with roots in philosophy, religion, and science, has progressed to include numerous divisions resulting in myriad current theories. The determination as to when the field of psychology actually began is, therefore, difficult to ascertain. Moreover, it is difficult to trace the actual beginnings of one form of psychology, for example, that of family systems.
