From the Paper:"If asked the question, what does an effective classroom look and sound like? How would you answer this question? My answer would be, a thriving classroom has an established routine where students can predict what will happen next, nonverbal interaction where the teacher efficiently and silently manages student behavior without disrupting a lesson, and constructive language where positive actions are encouraged. Did you think of the same answers? If you did, your mind automatically thought of classroom management techniques used every day in elementary classrooms. To better understand classroom management we most first look at how classroom management is developed and what aspects are part of the development.
"Classroom management is defined as, "strategies for assuring physical and psychological safety in the classroom; techniques for changing student misbehaviors and for teaching self- discipline; methods of assuring an orderly progression of events during the school day; and instructional techniques that contribute to students' positive behaviors" (Manning & Bucher, 2007, p. 4). For me this means classroom management is a safe learning environment where students are encouraged to make good decisions and learn in an orderly manner. Effective classroom management does not mean that students will be quite and seating still all day. Effective classroom management can present its self in many different ways depending on the educator's personal Philosophical beliefs and instructional goals (Manning & Bucher, 2007). However, one main purpose all effective classroom management styles will have is, "Establishes conditions that enable students to learn better." (Evertson C & Emmer E, 2013). The main goal for any educator is to ensure student safety, foster a creative learning, and help students take ownership of their choices and actions. "
