"I believe Classroom Management is the key component in any educational setting. My personal philosophy of management will be to take responsibility for what happens in my classroom. I am committed to making my classroom a safe and challenging environment while engaging my students through a stimulating atmosphere in which to grow and mature emotionally, intellectually, physically, and socially. The tone of my classroom will be to set clear expectations for each student, helping to prevent problem behaviors by actively engaging students in stimulating activities. Manning and Bucher state, "effective management techniques also include teaching techniques (e.g., lesson plans, instructional pace, instructional level, efforts to motivate)" (Manning & Bucher, 2007). Implementing these strategies will produce a balanced and well-rounded learning environment for students and teacher.
"I am committed to creating a safe and challenging learning environment while engaging my students through the curriculum. In addition to getting to know my students and interacting with them one-on-one. I believe that when I meet the learning needs of my students it will build a comfort level that will demonstrate itself with other students, as well me, so that there can be meaningful discussions and interactions. Full class discussions, along with group work will be a priority in my class, allowing students to learn and encourage each other. Students will be expected to participate in class, show respect to all that enter, and be ready to learn.
"I believe it is important to be patient, assertive, and build a friendship with students. I do have more of an authoritative personality. However, I believe in creating a relationship with my students by asking students about their life outside of class and letting them know that someone cares and is paying attention to what they have to say. I want students to understand that by working together we can create a classroom community where students feel valued, cared for, and challenged."
