From the Paper:"Introduction
The use and abuse of drugs among students in the colleges and universities has become recognized as a national, and even international problem. There is certainly a preponderance of anecdotal and folk wisdom surrounding the problem, but there exists a plethora of additional information from the scientific standpoint. Often this information is confined to the medical and psychological effects of the problem, however, the cultural and sociological aspects are vital for an understanding of treatment and prevention. In addition, in America's colleges and universities the abuse of a variety of drugs rather than a single substance tends to be a rather common occurrence, sociological evidence for the differential consequences of a particular substance tends to be somewhat scarce and hard to delineate."
