This paper details the deterioration of K-Mart within the American market as a result of an apparently impaired marketing strategy. It looks at the reasons behind K-Mart's positioning in the market, as well as the relevance of marketing stratagem in regard to repositioning K-Mart. Finally, the paper offers a five-year improvement plan for the company.

From the Paper:

"All countermeasures implemented by Kmart thereafter were rather feeble attempts at regaining a customer base that had simply prevailed thus far, due to the lack of competitive activity within the retailing industry. Subsequently, as the deterioration of the firm's market continues, Kmart finds itself sliding further and further down and the only strategy that could possibly help is apparently one that would involve an entire repositioning of the store within the market. This too, however, is something that it has attempted in so much as taking over a number of specialty stores."
