From the Paper:

Human Rights and International Politics Human rights have gained greater levels of prominence in recent decades. However, the development of human rights is often hindered on the international level by conflicts with national sovereignty. This is particularly apparent in cases of genocide, ethnic cleansing and state repression. This essay will argue that the issue is a result of a conflict between two very different political traditions. These traditions are the older and declining concept of national sovereignty and the emerging concept of international human rights.
