This paper enumerates and analyzes the various determinants of demographic and cultural characteristics that are found in teams or groups within an organization. Demographic characteristics include age, gender, race and ethnicity, and in some cases, disability; cultural characteristics, meanwhile, center on the competency, personality, values, attitudes, and perceptions that the individual members within a team may have. This paper argues that the presence of high diversity among members within a team induces high performance as well.
