This time has also coincided with increasing globalization, which has placed an emphasis on cost control in the public as well as the private sector. The end result, of course, has not only been an attack on the welfare state, but also changes in the structure of employment and the ability of the state to control its national economy. In a general sense, this means that the topic of globalization and its impact on the nations of the world, their economies and their societies are issues that have received a great deal of attention in recent years.
