The paper discusses how examining the emergence of chattel slavery in the Caribbean and Iberian America between the sixteenth and nineteenth centuries, reveals the indigenous origins of African slavery and the sinister participation in this inhuman system of European governments and their colonies in the Western Hemisphere.
