"The business climate in Canada, as detailed by 'The Economist' and reported by its "Country Briefings" website, suggests that the country currently enjoys a stable political environment even though the ruling party faces some difficulty because of a tarnished image caused by various scandals. The country faces a number of difficult political issues and also has had to address diplomatic differences with the United States, the giant neighbor to the south. The government also recently introduced new spending measures while working to avoid deficit financing. Monetary policy has been tightened by the Bank of Canada, while interest rates in the United States continue to increase. GDP growth increased slightly in 2005 and is forecast to grow slightly less in 2006 "as firm domestic demand offsets the negative impact of a slowdown in the US economy"."Cite this Essay:
