Description:

This paper examines research which has shown how eEpigenetic mechanisms affect mutant p53 transgene expression in WAP-mutp53 transgenic mice. Transgenic means that the mice have been genetically modified. In a report on the creation of a particular transgenic mouse based on 23 whey acidic protein (WAP)-mutp53 transgenic mouse lines. Analysis shows that these lines had a mosaic expression pattern for the transgenes and that this produced a pattern specific to the mouse line.

From the Paper:

"Research has shown how eEpigenetic mechanisms affect mutant p53 transgene expression in WAP-mutp53 transgenic mice. Transgenic means that the mice have been genetically modified. Krepulat et al. (2005) report on the creation of a particular transgenic mouse based on 23 whey acidic protein (WAP)-mutp53 transgenic mouse lines. Analysis shows that these lines had a mosaic expression pattern for the transgenes and that this produced a pattern specific to the mouse line. Only a few lines were produced. The authors write, "The data suggest that epigenetic mechanisms play a role in modulating the expression of the mutp53 transgene" (p. 4645). Genetic engineering can involve different ways of manipulating genetic..."
