Description:

This paper discusses the impact that online shopping has had in recent years. It describes how companies can use it to their advantage once they have established the right media mix and although the internet industry is still working out many challenges, online shopping, banking, networking, and entertainment services are here to stay.

From the Paper:

''Since the invention of online shopping in 1979 by Michael Aldrich (University of Brighton), it has opened many new shopping advantages and disadvantages, but that has not slowed down the progress that it has experiences during the last 40 years. Schofeld projected online sales for 2010 to be $172.9 billion and $248.7 billion by 2014(2009). Schofeld says that online business is viable to the economy. Challenges such as online payments, customer satisfaction, supply chain management, and the advertisement of products and services have obviously not stood in the way of online shopping.
''The $172.9 billion online payments do not outline the challenges that previous years endured from customers who felt that it was not safe or secure to purchase online. Two of the major challenges were the basic use of the computer and the merchant's ability to deliver the purchased good or service (Angriawan and Thakur, 77).''
