The paper describes the four main signs of anorexia and the complications it can cause. The paper discusses the cause of this disorder and explains how food becomes the defense mechanism to cover up underlying problems of low self-esteem or pressure for perfection or an ideal weight. The paper further discusses how our social world and the media place a lot of importance on being thin and like the celebrities, and how if the expectations of the media would fall into a realistic weight range for women and men, there would be fewer sufferers within the world.

From the Paper:

"Anorexia Nervosa affects millions of teenagers and young adults across the globe and it is a crucial disorder that can cause major damage and even death. This disease is described as an eating disorder that results in rapid weight loss, yo-yo dieting and body dysmorphia. The majority of anorexics are mostly women, but it now has hit many young males that are concerned about their bodies or weight. The actual meaning of 'Anorexia Nervosa' is known of a loss of appetite due to the nervous system, but in fact most anorexics lose their appetite only in the lowest stages of starvation. Anorexics believe they are overweight when they are in fact extremely underweight and near death."
