In this paper, the author, an avid horse lover, discusses his experiences of working for a year in a veterinary clinic. The paper describes how he got the job, some of the duties he performed and the people he worked with.

From the Paper:

"Upon my hire Tom finally had the subject to coerce and manage that he had been coveting. For the first four weeks in his employ, with so much new information to assimilate, I was content to succumb to his regime. Eventually our relationship got a bit testy, as it is not my nature to "do as I say" and not think for myself. To Tom's credit, he admitted to some of these shortcomings and tried to alter his style, but Napoleon couldn't hide successfully for long. I offer this character assessment only because it shades many of the incidents I will relate about life in the vet's corner. The doctors themselves were ambulatory and seldom spent time in the office hub. They, the four D. V. Ms, were all tremendously kind and respectful men, even if a oblivious to the inner workings of their support team.
