"The study of foreign languages in education has been subject to a wide array of approaches concerning technique, with a focus on which teaching techniques are more effective in conveying information appropriately to the student. The assessment of teaching techniques is based upon how quickly a student learns specific components of a foreign language, such as spelling or pronunciation. Traditionally, the teaching approach that was most often used were audiolingual and grammar- translation, referring to techniques that required the student to assimilate language traits through repetition and drills that focused on the content and composition of student performance. However, many foreign language educators have begun to utilize a type of language teaching called communicative language teaching (CLT), in which a student is placed in settings that are intended to emulate situations in reality. Through exposing the student to this type of roleplaying, many educators feel that students increase their response time and their overall familiarity with the foreign language in question."Cite this Comparison Essay:
