The paper outlines the basic elements of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test and the Rorschach test and shows why the former is more potentially useful in understanding the psychological makeup of individuals. On the other hand, the paper explains why the Rorschach test may contribute more directly to identifying various organic psychological dysfunctions related to biochemical processes. The paper relates, however, that because of its subjective nature, it is not widely used within the overall scope of behavioral psychology. The paper then discusses self-help books and why they are not considered a reliable method of treating psychological issues.
