From the Paper:
"Penny is a fictional character thought up by the brilliant minds of Chuck Lore and Bill Prady, who created the sitcom comedy, Big Bang Theory. In the show, Penny is a young pretty girl who moved to California from Nebraska to follow her dreams of stardom and fame. While she endlessly chases her dream of becoming an actress, she is a part-time waitress at the local Cheesecake Factory between commercial auditions and small play rehearsals. The story line behind the show is yet to be completed, but there have been seven seasons so far. Big Bang Theory's back story starts off with two physicists, Leonard and Sheldon becoming roommates after meeting each other at work. The two geniuses become best friends with two other colleagues at Cal-Tech University. The first is an astronomer by the name of Raj. The other friend is an engineer, who is teased constantly for not having a doctorate degree like the others, and only obtaining a master's degree. The four of them become a tight knit circle of friends fast. Soon after, a new neighbor moves in across from Leonard and Sheldon and shakes up the circle of friends. The new neighbor is Penny, and Leonard instantly becomes infatuated with her. Throughout the next several seasons, Leonard and Penny continue to have a complicated on-again-off-again relationship until they recently get engaged in the newest episodes. Other key cast members that were eventually incorporated into he series include Howard's girlfriend/wife, Bernedette, and Sheldon's sort of girlfriend, Amy. Bernadette worked with Penny at the Cheesecake Factory while she was in school for microbiology. She and Amy are both female scientists. Penny stands out in the group of friends due to her "non-geekiness" , lack of education, and good looks. Each episode of Big Bang Theory shows the friends going through typically ups and downs of life and going on adventures. The show dialogue is funny, yet still family appropriate. This versatility has led to the shows success and numerous seasons. The audience is varied. As a matter of fact, it is both mine and my grandmother's favorite show. It cleverly uses humor that people from all walks of life can enjoy."Cite this Comparison Essay:
